Smoke on the water

I recently found a stash of my grandfather’s 35mm film slides.  Papa was a great photographer and always had his camera with him, whether traveling the world, at a family party, or at the lake.  I recently sent some of his slides in to get digital scans.  I was kind of shocked to see this shot of his, circa 1980s.  Because below it, is a shot I just took early in the morning about 2 weeks ago – from almost the same exact spot at the lake.  Good karma, I think 🙂

At the zoo.  I am cheating a bit this week.  These images are a couple of weeks old, but I’m sifting through a huge backlog right now!  We had a lot of fun going to the “Extreme Bugs” exhibit at the Brookfield Zoo.  What could be more perfect for little boys than an exhibit about the world’s grossest bugs?  They were cooking bugs you could eat on french toast (pass), and the boys had fun getting inside the tank of diving beetles.  There was also a lovely cockroach exhibit. They adored the butterfly house too (more my speed).  And of course, we had to ride the old carousel.

The way I view {summer life}

This month’s theme in my 12-month photography project was so perfect and easy.  I wait all year for summertime at the lake, and now the boys are loving it so much up there too.  Our summer life involves a lot of sun, sand, and swimming.  And bug bites, lots and lots of those.  Here are some shots from our summer fun so far, at the lake, at the pool, and around the house.  It always goes by way too fast for me…

My little ginger.  Still cannot get over the fact that I have a redhead.  Haven’t cut his hair yet, just too in love with the little strawberry blonde curls.

More from the Slama family…

Boys rule!  A few weeks ago, I posted some shots from my shoot with the Slamas here.  Here are some more favorites from that day.  These boys are so much fun, and clearly very cute…and being a boy mom I just have a special place in my heart for rambunctious little guys.
