Love bug

8 month old baby girl + sweater knit hoodie + bare feet = a whole lot of ridiculous cuteness.  I went over to my dear friend Denise’s last weekend, and snapped a bunch of pics of her youngest.  Now, clearly she can’t get any cuter, but her personality is just so great!  She came right up to me with a big gummy grin and at one point after she had her bottle she was crawling all over me giggling.  She was so good and lucky for me, fascinated with my camera.  I’m just sharing a few today, saving more for the February installment of my “The way I view” 12-month project because this month, the theme is “sweetness and love”.  If this little girl isn’t perfect for that, I don’t know what is.  So more will be posted on March 2nd, there are so many I am in love with from this series of photographs.  Now I want a baby girl 🙂  Enjoy, and happy Valentine’s Day!

Sick Day: Part Deux.  Nate and I just had a fun little jaunt to the ER.  His asthma was flaring up and he got a nasty virus, so it was getting really hard for him to breathe (and scary for us and his daycare teacher).  I’ve been lucky in that this is the first ER trip I’ve had with either of the boys, which is amazing considering the amount of stuff Nate has had going on since birth pretty much.  He’s okay now but won’t sleep in his crib…and he eventually just passed out on the couch.  Poor little guy.

hot {chocolate}

And now for something completely different.  Even though winter hasn’t really been too cold or snowy this year, I decided to make some hot chocolate the other day.  Here’s the thing:  I made it to photograph it and not to drink it (it was almost 50 degrees outside and I wasn’t interested!).  I usually photograph people or animals (or both), so lately I have been trying to expand my horizons and build skills by taking pictures of anything and everything, more still life.  I kind of like how these turned out, makes my instant hot cocoa look way better than it actually tasted in reality 🙂

  • Rebecca Spencer - Love the fact you are pushing yourself to take photos of different things. If you don’t want the hot chocolate can I have it over here as it’s been a cold winter!ReplyCancel

6/52

At the park, in February.  Not sure what’s going on with this warm winter weather, but I’ll take it!  It’s week 6 of my 52-week project, and I haven’t had a lot of chances to shoot much of anything this week.  These are from last Sunday, so they count!  We took the boys to the park down the block at their future elementary school and I took a few pics of them running around.  Nate hated his mittens, it was pretty funny, he acted like his arms were paralyzed as soon as we put those on.

  • Holly Thompson - Brrr! It looks so cold! The boys are adorable and so cute all bundled up. I love the shot of the multi-color finger mittens on the railing… great perspective!ReplyCancel

Why I love Lightroom {exhibit A}

I just love using Lightroom for organizing and editing my photos, but recently I have been using it to salvage older photos that I took before I really had a good handle on my camera settings and exposure.  This is one of my favorite pictures ever, but it is underexposed.  Charlie was 17 days old (to be exact!) and he was asleep on my dad’s belly (again).  He used to sleep like this on him for hours.  Pop Pop and Charlie have a special relationship, and as you can see, it started very early.  Here is the original picture and the quick fix I did in Lightroom:
